Rifle man found Tuesday morning

RIFLE, Colorado – Authorities this morning found the Rifle man who was reported missing Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Rifle Police Department, searchers found Steven Donald Griffin, 37, of Rifle, around 9:10 Tuesday morning.

The Rifle Police Department and Garfield County Search and Rescue began searching for Griffin in the Palomino Park area in north Rifle on Monday afternoon.

The search began after Griffin was reported missing to Rifle Police. He had suggested in a phone call to family members that he suffered from self inflicted, and possibly life-threatening, injuries, according to police.

Local authorities called on the Rifle Fire Protection District and Garfield County Search and Rescue to assist with the search on Monday, but suspended the search at 6 p.m. Monday.

Authorities resumed the search around 8 a.m. Tuesday, and contacted Griffin without incident. No further information regarding Griffin’s condition was released, Tuesday.
