Rifle neighbor: Shush your barking dogs

Dear Editor,

I live in a nice subdivision in Rifle and have two dogs. These dogs are, by all means, not angels. They bark at people on the sidewalks and at people that come to visit.

However, with all the barking they do, they hardly ever go outside and bark at night. The minute they do, I call them in.

I have always considered it rude to let your dog bark on and on in the night because, to me, evenings are quiet times to be spent with your family and, of course, bedtime. I have children that are in bed between 9 and 9:30.

By 10 or so, two or more dogs begin barking. And barking. And barking.

I do not know who the owners of these dogs are, but I know they live on the street behind my house, which would be Ute Avenue.

So, to whoever it is that does not hear or ignores their dog while he is outside continuously barking, please change your ways.

I, along with most of the people I know, have to get up early in the morning to go to work and my children have to get up early in the morning to get ready for school.

When you have to lie in bed awake for a couple hours every night listening to dogs bark, your night and the next day are miserable.

Thank you, in advance, for the quiet.

Cheri McCoy
