Rifle Police officer shot Friday

RIFLE – A Rifle police officer is recovering after he was shot while investigating a domestic violence incident in Rifle, Friday.

According to Garfield County Sheriff’s official Tanny McGinnis, the officer, who is in his 20s, is in good condition following the shooting around 8:20 p.m. Friday night.

Authorities quickly secured the area after the shooting and a suspect who police say acted alone was arrested.

McGinnis said the policeman “is in good condition and we’re so very grateful.”

Authorities declined to release any other details about the officer or the shooting, and said more information will be available later Saturday.
