Rifle Police Report

Editor’s note: The Rifle Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Harassment, domestic violence: Police were dispatched to the 700 block of East Avenue at 6:18 p.m. on Nov. 11 for a report of criminal trespass, harassment and domestic violence. Jesse Charles Coszalter, 22, of Rifle was arrested and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Stolen vehicle: Police responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle at 4:28 a.m. on Nov. 12 in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue. The victim’s boyfriend and a friend stole a vehicle and allegedly traveled out of state.

Theft, trespass: Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Enterprise Court at 7:10 a.m. on Nov. 12 for a report of a vehicle theft. Within the vehicle were numerous valuable hunting-related items. The case is under investigation.

Criminal mischief, trespass: Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Enterprise Court at 9:34 a.m. on Nov. 12 for a report of criminal mischief. Several vehicles on the premises were vandalized. This case is under investigation.

Theft: Police took a report of theft from the 900 block of Park Avenue at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 12. A parked vehicle was broken into and several items were stolen.

Possession of marijuana: Police contacted suspicious parties at Deerfield Park at 8:33 p.m. on Nov. 12. One adult and four juveniles were released with verbal warnings.

Driving under the influence: Police contacted a vehicle for a traffic violation at 1:43 a.m. on Nov. 13 in the 1000 block of Howard Avenue. The driver, Lusianna Rea Payan, 29, of Rifle, was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Payan was transported to Garfield County Jail on charges of DUI, compulsory insurance, and failure to use turn signal.

Marijuana: At 3:52 p.m. on Nov. 13, police were given a small amount of marijuana that was found inside a business in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue. The marijuana was taken for destruction.

Driving under restraint: Police made a traffic stop at 11:02 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the 1100 block of Railroad Avenue. Melissa Darnley, 29, of Rifle, was arrested for driving under restraint and a defective head lamp.
