Rifle Police Report
Editor’s note: The Rifle Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Investigations: Officers are investigating a report by a resident in the 200 block of Fairway Avenue who found a small amount of marijuana in her backyard on May 26; a stolen vehicle incident that occurred in the 1700 block of Howard Avenue on May 27; and a fight that occurred at 5th and East Avenue on May 30.
Underage drinking: Officers were called to the 800 block of West 24th Street on a report of an intoxicated man knocking on doors. They arrested Kevin Buechler, 19, no address available, for underage drinking.
Warrant arrest: A man came to the Rifle Police Department at 5 p.m. on May 30 on other business, when officers discovered he had two active arrest warrants. They arrested Robert Stanley Choate, 40, of Rifle, and transported him to the county jail.
Domestic violence: Officers were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of Whiteriver Avenue at 10 p.m. on May 30. They arrested Dennis Garrett, 31, and Keisha Stuart, 26, both of Rifle, on domestic violence charges.
Assault: Officers stopped a vehicle at 8 p.m. on May 31 in the 300 block of West Avenue and found that two men in the vehicle were connected to a fight that occurred on May 30. Officers learned that the men had just allegedly thrown a rock at a victim of the previous night’s fight. Officers arrested Daniel Pattangall, 24, of Rifle, and James Pattangall, 25, of Silt, on suspicion of assault.
Warrant arrest: Officers were investigating a possible burglary at the Rusty Cannon Motel at 9:50 p.m. on May 31. During the investigation, they contacted Jeffery Amos, 38, of Rifle, who was wanted on three warrants. He was arrested and transported to the county jail.
Disorderly conduct: Officers were called to the 2400 block of Acacia Avenue at 5 p.m. on May 31 for a report of a fight in progress. They cited Lauren Myers, 23, of Rifle, and James Frederic Lingenfelter, 48, of Rifle, for disorderly conduct, and arrested Lingenfelter for violation of a court order barring him from drinking.
Criminal mischief: Officers were called to the 200 block of West 20th Street at 7 p.m. on June 1, where a Molotov cocktail had been found in the street.
Warrant arrest: Officers spotted Christopher Scott Hart, 27, of Silt, in the 1000 block of Airport Road. He was known to be wanted on an active felony warrant, and was arrested and lodged in the county jail.
Warrant arrest: Officers stopped a motorist for a traffic violation in the 1700 block of Howard Avenue at 5:30 a.m. on June 2. The driver, Kevin Anders, 31, of Rifle, was found to be wanted on an active warrant. He was arrested and transported to the county jail.

Upon informing the driver “it was not very smart to be transporting marijuana through Utah,” the man stated he “thought it was legal everywhere.”
