Rifle Police are investigating a robbery at the Rifle Thrift Store that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a suspect entered the Rifle Thrift Store, located at the 100 block of East First St. in Rifle, at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday, brandished a knife and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

According to Rifle Police Chief Daryl Meisner, police are looking for a suspect described as a slim, white male, approximately 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall.

The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a gas mask, according to Meisner.

“We are investigating the case and have some leads we’re looking into,” Meisner said. No arrests have been made at this time.

Julie Lewallen, who volunteers at the thrift store, said that only one person was working at the time of the hold-up, and luckily, no one was injured. But Lewallen was still concerned for the other workers and their safety.

“I worry about the women who work here,” Lewallen said. “I am the youngest of them, and I’m concerned for their safety. I would hate for something to happen. I would hate to see someone get hurt.”

Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact Rifle Police at 625-2331.
