‘Road to Recovery’ drivers needed on Western Slope

The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers for its “Road to Recovery” program on the Western Slope.

Road to Recovery volunteers provide free transportation for cancer patients to and from their life-saving treatments. Volunteers provide a crucial service to patients whose families and friends cannot drive them to every treatment.

Drivers are an important part of a patient’s recovery, providing moral support and a sympathetic ear. Volunteers can be retirees, students, homemakers, or someone with flexible time during the week. Volunteer requirements include the desire to help others, a good driving record and an insured car in good working condition. Volunteer schedules are flexible. The American Cancer Society provides an orientation, support materials and other assistance.

To learn more about the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program, call Judy Morehouse at the American Cancer Society at (970) 242-9593.

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer by preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. For information, call the American Cancer Society at (800) ACS-2345 or visit http://www.cancer.org.
