Robert L. Belcher

Robert Lester Belcher, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., died Saturday, June 29, 2002, from pneumonia following hip surgery. He was 83.

Mr. Belcher was born July 11, 1918, in Winthrop, Mass. He served his country during World War II in the Army’s Quarter Master Corp., in England, where he met his wife, Oda Walker. After the war they settled in Chicago where they raised their two children, William and Charlotte. He worked for International Harvester.

They moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1960, where Mr. Belcher was very active in the Episcopal Church and the Shriners. He retired in 1976 and moved to Glenwood Springs. Mrs. Belcher died in 1977. He married Fay Arthur in 1978. He was very active in the Lions Club, especially in the eye-glass project, in Eastern Star, Shriner Clown Unit of Grand Junction, and in his church.

Mr. Belcher is survived by his children, Bill and Charlotte; grandchildren Greg, Andrea, Dorian, Sarah, Hunter, Daniel, Michael, Jason, Zac and Matthew; and by a brother , Roy.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Glenwood Springs.
