Robert Sheldon Billingsley

Robert Sheldon Billingsley of Basalt died Sunday, May 18, 2003. He was 71.

He was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Portland, Ore., to Kathryn Elizabeth Chamberlain and Stanley George Billingsley. He married Jane Keil Aug. 13, 1966, in Riverside, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Korea and worked in broadcast advertising. He served as senior vice president for Ducks Unlimited, was a board member of the Roaring Fork Conservancy and was a vice commodore of the Aspen Yacht Club.

He is survived by wife Jane Billingsley, son Bradley Sheldon Billingsley and his fiancee Amy Hilpipre, and sons Jeffrey Robert and Leslie Billingsley.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Basalt United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mary Kate Schroeder will officiate for St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited, the Roaring Fork Conservancy or Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado.
