Roberto R. Sandoval, 84, of Gypsum died June 30, 2004.A church service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gypsum. Father Jude Geilenkirchen will officiate. Visiting hours will be Thursday at the Sandoval family home in Gypsum, and burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum.He was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Columbus, N.M., the son of Rosa (Rodrigues) and Martin Sandoval. He spent his childhood in New Mexico.He married Celestina Segovia on Oct. 22, 1958.He was a farmer in Gypsum, and lived in New Mexico as well. He enjoyed working with wood; he was a great carpenter, made great brooms, and most of all, he was a great, loving father, husband and friend to many.Survivors include his wife; sons Martin Sandoval and wife Armida of Durango, Alberto Sandoval and wife Rosa, Ariel Sandoval, Sergio Sandoval and wife Clara, and Alejandro Sandoval and wife Carol, all of Gypsum; daughters Maria Sanchez and husband Pedro of Gypsum, and Rosa Venzor and husband Patricio of Eagle; brothers Edward and Martin Sandoval; and 14 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.His sisters, Hortencia Romero and Delia Sandoval, and one brother, Arthur Sandoval, preceded him in death.Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.Farnum-Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
