Robin Wellington
Robin Wellington of Las Vegas, Nev., a former resident of New Castle, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at his home. He was 49.
He was born Feb. 2, 1954, in California to Inez and Dick Wellington. He grew up in California.
Mr. Wellington served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He married Elaine Williams. She preceded him in death in June 2001.
Mr. Wellington lived in New Castle for 18 years, before moving to Las Vegas in 2002.
He worked as a lineman for a telecommunications company and at a meatpacking plant in Rifle.
He was known to friends and family as “Papa Rob.”
Mr. Wellington is survived by his parents, Dick and Inez Wellington of California; by sons Samuel Wellington of Big Bear, Calif., Damon Smith of New Castle, and Richie Williams of Grand Junction; by daughters Alana Avelar of Payson, Ariz., Melissa Snell of Las Vegas, Janice Smith of New Castle, and Kim Williams of Glenwood Springs; by brothers Rick, Russell and Ron Wellington; by a sister, Rhonda Gunderman; and by eight grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
A family service was held in Las Vegas, and a memorial service will be held this summer in the Garfield County area, on a date to be announced later.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society of Las Vegas was in charge of arrangements.
