Robyn Elizabeth Sturtevant

Robyn Elizabeth Sturtevant of Parachute died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at her home. She was 21.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, at “That Place” teen center, 201 W. 2nd St. in Rifle.

Miss Sturtevant was born Jan. 13, 1982, in Leesville, La., to Deborah Kay Holt. Her mother died two weeks after Miss Sturtevant’s birth.

She was in the custody of Robert J. Sturtevant until age 7, when she became a ward of the state of Colorado. She lived in various foster homes, group homes and institutions in Pueblo, Denver, Gypsum and finally in New Castle with the Robert and Pam Bunn family.

She attended Rifle High School.

Miss Sturtevant joined Campus Life in 1999, and was a regular participant in the group’s activities. Campus Life is an outreach of Western Colorado Youth for Christ.

Although Miss Sturtevant struggled with epilepsy and mental health issues, she was cheerful and outgoing and had many friends in the valley.

Her dream was to finally belong to someone and be loved for who she was. She hoped to become a foster parent to other orphaned and abandoned children. She wanted to be able to give to others. She had recently made great progress in caring for herself.

Her favorite time of year was Thanksgiving because it represented all the goodness in life.

Miss Sturtevant is survived by her grandfather, Bob Sturtevant of Pueblo.
