Rock the Boat Theater troupe to perform at Sacred Grounds

Rock the Boat Theater is going from dinner to deli theater.The theater company will perform “Murder in the Mountains” at Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse and Delicatessen from 7-9 p.m. SaturdayThe show is an old-fashioned, kid-friendly whodunit centered around a murdered bake-off contest judge and three bake-off contestants, each with a reason to murder the judge.The cast for Saturday night’s performance includes Gordon Flowers, Matt Pavlak, Eileen Martin, Melissa Maloy and artistic director Don Cheney.Rock the Boat Theater, based in Marietta, Ga., was started by producer and director Rhonda Bynum. After visiting Glenwood in March with her daughter on spring break, Bynum decided to expand her comedy, murder and mystery theater show to the Western Slope of Colorado – the first location outside of Georgia.Bynum returned to Glenwood with six Rock the Boat Theater players, who perform Friday and Sunday nights at the Ramada Inn & Suites. She plans to perform at the U.S. Comedy Festival in Aspen and open a dinner theater in Colorado Springs and Maui, Hawaii. Another theatrical collaboration is planned for later this year with the Glenwood Center for the Arts.Rock the Boat Theater tends to attract actors who double as lawyers, accountants and business professionals and love theater, said Bynum. The company’s lawyer and business manager are also an actor and director for Rock the Boat Theater.Tickets are available at the door for $10 for ages 13 and older and $5 for children 12 and younger.
