Rocky Mountain Student Filmfest announces winners

The sixth annual Rocky Mountain Student Filmfest welcomed strong attendance last weekend.The student-run filmfest included submissions from Basalt, Roaring Fork, Glenwood Springs, Yampah, Bridges, Rifle, Aspen, Steamboat Springs and UTEC-Grand Junction high schools. Winners were:– Rising Star Award: honorable mention, jury prize – “Thirty Four Fifty” by Olivia Britz, Dan Markoya, Michael Emerson, Tommy Joiner, Taylor Maggert, Max Green, Sam Horowitz, Roaring Fork High School, Carbondale; “Strange Side of Abe Lincoln” by Ben Fout, home-schooled in New Castle, and Stephen Piker– Best Drama: “Jeremy” by Blake Worsley, Ryan Matte, Trevor Elliott, Steamboat Springs High School– Best Action: “Ataxia” by Taylor Gregg, Tyler Stevens, Matt Klahn, Jonathan Petrie, Basalt High School– Best Comedy: “Il Gioco” by Olivia Britz, Ryan Romero, Jake Boyle, Brandon Howard from RFHS– Best Documentary: “Mastication Sensation” by Ari Wolters, Jordan Bacheldor, Nima Noori, Wade Vitany, Mario Loya, Matt Hobbs, from BHS– Best Animation: “13 bad Things” by Joey Stokes, Tyler Erwin, Eric Palmer, Bailey Sansom, Aspen High School– Best Artistic: “Crazy as Sane” by Trevor Elliott, Michael Padarocca, Tim Sullivan, SSHS– Grand Prize: “State Dreams” by Matthew Hobbs from BHS (also winner of the Aspen Shortsfest student category)
