Roger Clayton Mace

Roger Clayton Mace passed away in peace on April 8, 2010. He was 59.

Roger was born on April 13, 1950 in East St. Louis. He was a graduate of East St. Louis High in 1968 where he then went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Ill.

Roger was a kind and gentle soul who touched everyone he met. He had a great love for the outdoors that included hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and enjoying nature’s solitude.

He is survived by his daughter, Wenonah; son in law, John Recio; two granddaughters, Sequoyah and Jessenia; his mother, Pat Mace; brother, Jeffrey Mace; sisters Sharon Mack and Kathleen Mace; among nieces and nephews and a gathering of friends. Our ‘papa’ will be greatly missed but will live on forever in our hearts.

A gathering will be held at Phat Thai in Carbondale on Sunday April 18 at 1 p.m. A ‘celebration of life’ will follow later this September.

Donations can be made to any Wells Fargo Bank Account #1558873764 for a college savings plan for Roger’s grandchildren.
