Rois Johnson

Rois Johnson, 52, passed away unexpectedly March 15, 2008, at his home in Rifle.

Rois was born Jan. 30, 1956, in Hobbs, N.M., to R.E. (Jiggs) and Lola Lee (Allmon) Johnson.

He joined the U.S. Army after graduation, and spent some time in Korea.

He worked for most his life as a heavy equipment operator for numerous construction companies throughout the valley.

Rois spent most leisure hours with his horses in the mountains hunting, fishing and supporting the local bull riders at the Rifle Fairgrounds. He was also a member of the local Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his mother; fiancee Debbie Thurston; sister Donna (Rob) Crawford; niece Mindi Harman; and nephews Jesse Crawford, Christopher Harman and Jon Harman.

Rois was preceded in death by his father.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Rois Johnson Memorial Fund at your local Wells Fargo Bank.

A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Rifle Funeral Home.
