Roland E. "Porky" Hamman, Jr.
Roland E. “Porky: Hamman, Jr., of Duluth, Minn., died on Monday, July 28, 2003, at his home. He was 78.
He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo. After high school he served in the U.S. Army in New Guinea and the Philippines for 34 months.
He sold automobiles, insurance and lumber. In 1966, he founded his own lumber business in Duluth. He was semi-retired for the past year. He was an avid golfer and played 18 holes on the day of his death.
Roland is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria, of Duluth; daughter and son-in-law Annie and Kent Jolley of Glenwood Springs; son and daughter-in-law Howard and Becky Hamman of Duluth and grandchildren Alexandra and Justin Jolley of Glenwood Springs.
A private memorial service has been held in Duluth.
