Rosa Brunner Rising

Rosa Brunner Rising of Glenwood Springs died of natural causes on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Glen Valley Care Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Rising was born March 11, 1913, to Caroline Loeffler and Frank Brunner in Pennsylvania.

She grew up on a farm, and worked in textile factories, and later as a steakhouse chef at The Well House in Allentown, Pa.

She married Carl J. Rising on Aug. 10, 1940. He preceded her in death.

She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, puzzles, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many friends at Heritage Park Assisted Living in Carbondale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Rising; by a daughter Carolyn M. Hersch; and by brothers Frank, William, Joseph, Ralph, and Elmer Brunner.

Mrs. Rising is survived by a daughter, Brittany Clingan of Glenwood Springs; by grandchildren Benjamin Hersch of Glenwood Springs, Sharon Engime of Upper Darby, Pa., Rosemarie Russell, Howard Hersch and James Hersch, all of Warminster, Pa., Chris Clingan of Carbondale, and Cali Gonzales of Glenwood Springs; by a brother, Walter Brunner of Chambersburg, Pa.; by nine great-grandchildren; and by her cat, Toby.

A gathering of friends was held Saturday, Feb. 22, at The Comfort Inn in Carbondale. Cremation has taken place.
