Roundabout work causes I-70 off-ramp closure

RIFLE, Colorado ” The roundabout project at the Rifle interchange of Interstate 70 will force some road closures next week.

Starting at 8 a.m. Sept. 3 the city of Rifle and Martinez Western Constructors of Rifle will be closing the Interstate 70 eastbound off-ramp at Exit 90. The closure will be in effect through Sept. 10. During the closure, traffic will be rerouted to West Rifle exit 87 for eastbound traffic and detoured to U.S. Highway 6 and 24.

The closure is needed to complete construction of the remainder of the off-ramp before switching the traffic configuration to the project’s third phase. Phase three will put the traveling public in the roundabout configurations. The date for the traffic switch to phase three has not been confirmed.
