Longtime local resident Roy R. Rakich Sr. (The Honey Man) passed away peacefully at this home on March 25, 2013 with his family by his side. Roy was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Tony A. Rakich and Hazel Reading Rakich. Roy graduated from Glenwood springs, High School in 1946. He served honorably in the US Army from 1948-1952, participating in the Korean Conflict. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, meeting people in a cafe over coffee and attending many auctions. His passion in life was caring for his bees. He was a member of the Eagles #215 for 45 years, past president for 3 years and a member of the American Legion for 28 years. He married Martha A. Dennis Hughes in 1962. They had two children, Roy Jr. and Rick Rakich. Verna Jean, Brenda and an adopted son, Billy, were from both previous marriages. Roy is survived by his wife Martha of 50 years; sons Rick, Billy; daughters Verna (Jerry) Brought, Brenda (Bill) Houseburg; brother Ralph (Doris) and many nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Roy Jr. preceded his father in death in 1986. We love you and will miss you greatly forever. Services will held at Farnum Holt Funeral Home Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. with lunch following at 1 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge #215, everyone is welcome.
