Rozel Joan Reed

Rozel Reed passed away March 21, 2006, peacefully at her home in Casa Grande, Ariz., with her husband at her side.Joan was born June 19, 1913, in Riverdale, Neb., to John H. and Bertha (Oertley) Bolin, and was raised on a farm in the area. Her family moved to Omaha, Neb., where she worked at Roberts Dairy and met her future husband.Rozel married Kenneth Wilson Reed on May 17, 1939, in Omaha. After the war they moved to Colorado Springs, where they lived for over 50 years. She lived in New Castle for three years prior to moving to Arizona.She was first and foremost a devoted wife, homemaker and excellent cook. In her professional life, she worked as a bookkeeper in the dairy and home-building industry.She was charter member and officer of the Colorado Springs chapter of the American Business Women’s Association, and was selected as Woman of the Year in 1968.She is survived by her husband; daughter Virginia L. (Robert) Francis of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; son John Kenneth (Mary Gibson) Reed of Glenwood Springs; granddaughter Elizabeth Lynee (Mike) Coleman; great-grandsons Christopher Best, Jason Best and Michael Coleman of Oxford, Mich.; sister Josephine (Charles) Schneider of Chicago; and sister-in-law Molly Bolin of Omaha.She was preceded in death by son Thomas James Reed, identical twin sister Ruth DeWalt, and brother Jim and Jack Bolin.Services were private.
