Running into a wall at the Community Center

Dear Editor,

Recently we made a trip to the Glenwood Springs Community Center. We wanted to skate on the rink and climb on the wall, and also use the great facilities that it had to offer. We read in the summer recreation events magazine, delivered to the residents of Glenwood, the hours and prices of all the activities at the Glenwood Community Center. We looked at the magazine, which listed the hours of the climbing wall. It says that Monday through Thursday the wall is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. We went there on a Tuesday, and they said the wall opens at 5 p.m., not at 7 a.m. Also to add to the confusion, the skating rink wasn’t open because they didn’t have a grounds supervisor to watch the wall and to watch the rink.

So we walked out of there empty-handed and disappointed. We were also thinking, what if they get this new aquatic center? What good does it do us if we can only swim three days a week, and the rest are lessons, and other activities? I hope the recreation department can pull themselves together, because it would be nice to use the facility once and a while.
