Ruth Horton was born and raised in Hackensack, New Jersey. She worked as an executive secretary to the president of Western Electric in New York City, until she moved with her husband Don to Aspen in the 1960s. They owned the Maroon Creek Lodge at the Highlands. Ruth was an avid golfer, bridge player and knitter and also a longtime volunteer at the Aspen Valley Hospital. Ruth maintained her sense of humor through life’s trials.

A memorial service will be held at Carbondale Community United Methodist Church, 835 2nd Street at 10 a.m. Nov. 3, 2012.
