Ruth Wilson, 75, of Rifle passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family at her side.
Ruth was born Dec. 23, 1933, in Souris, Manitoba, Canada, to John Edward and Hazel Maria (Armstrong) Coates. Ruth came to the U.S. in 1957. She married Gerald R. Wilson on Dec. 6 of that year in Las Vegas. They resided in California, where Ruth earned her U.S. citizenship in 1963. After retiring as the vice president of operations for Security Pacific Bank, she moved to Rifle, where she became active with the Ladies of the Moose #1345, and volunteered many hours with the Colorado Shares Program. Ruth’s hobbies included bingo, playing the lottery and spending time with friends and family.
Ruth is survived by her sons Harold R. (Colleen) Wilson, Jon F. (Norene) Wilson and Doug R. (Kathy) Wilson; daughter-in-law Mamie Wilson; sisters Audrey Cairnes and Faye Watson; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald. R. Wilson; son Gerald Donn Wilson; sister Erna; and brother Mert.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is planned for Thursday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at the Rifle Moose Lodge, 133 E. Third St.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to Hospice of the Valley, PO Box 3768, Basalt, CO 81621.
