Safeway takes on MD fund-raiser

Safeway on Grand Avenue is participating in a four-week promotion to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy.Muscular Dystrophy is a neuromuscular disease that affects more than a million Americans, according to the Muscular Dystrophy Association Web site.Safeway customers in Colorado, Arizona, California and Oregon can purchase $1, $5 or $10 MDA coupons at Safeway checkout counters.Safeway will announce the amount of money raised on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon Sunday, Sep. 5.More than 1,500 Safeway stores throughout the country are participating in the fund-raiser.Contact Ivy Vogel: 945-8515, ext. 534ivogel@postindependent.com

Report: Estimates of future Upper Colorado River Basin water use confound previous planning

A report released this month by the Center for Colorado River Studies says that in order to sustainably manage the river in the face of climate change, officials need alternative management paradigms and a different way of thinking compared with the status quo.
