Sales tax service collection fee drops

The state sales tax service collection fee was lowered from 3.3 to 2.3 percent as of July 1, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue.

The change is the result of Senate Bill 03-317, and will be in effect through June 30, 2005.

The lower collection fee applies only to state sales and use tax. Service fees for state-collected city, county and special districts remain the same.

The service fee is also known as a vendor fee.

The Department of Revenue will send out new sales tax collection coupon books in July. Monthly sales tax filers will use the new coupons for the Aug. 20 due date.
