The J. Robert Young Scholarship is offered to graduates of public high schools in western Colorado markets served by Alpine Bank. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need. Students should be seeking a business-related degree, have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher and must be planning to attend a Colorado college.

Two $1,000 scholarships, renewable for up to four years, are available through Western Colorado Community Foundation. The scholarship application is accessible at, from high-school counselors, online at, online at, or by visiting any Alpine Bank location. The deadline is March 30.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is now accepting applications for its 2012 “Begin a New Adventure” Scholarship for employees. To be eligible, the applicant must have worked at the park at least 200 hours during the 2011 calendar year.

The $1,000 scholarship will be granted based on merit and an essay, with consideration given for number of years of employment with the park and dedication to its mission: making people smile. Applications are available online at, at the park’s tram base from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. Friday through Monday, and in area high school counseling offices. The scholarships are due at the tram base by March 31.

Any person who lives in Grand River Hospital District or is a full time student in one of the three in-district high schools may apply. You must be pursuing a career in the medical field, and planning to attend or are currently attending a college, university, or technical school in the fall of 2012. Both graduating high school seniors and individuals who have previously graduated high school may apply. Awards will be given only to those who have not previously received a scholarship from Grand River Hospital District.
