BASALT, Colorado – Kyp Schoon belted two three-run home runs as Basalt rallied to a 10-8 win over visiting Grand Valley on Thursday.

The Cardinals led much of the day before melting down in the late innings.

“Overall, we just can’t put a full game together,” Grand Valley coach Casey Coulter lamented.

Trent Reidle pitched well in the start for the Cardinals, going 4 1/3 innings and striking out nine.

“He was a real bright spot for us,” Coulter said.

On Tuesday, Grand Valley played host to Aspen and dropped a 12-11 decision to the Skiers. A six-run sixth inning lifted Aspen to the win.
