Sculptor honors sled dog races with snow sculpture
The Redstone Art Center is featuring Roaring Fork Valley sculptor Steve Kentz, who has created a snow sculpture of a classic sled dog for the community’s annual race.Kentz will apply the finishing touches to his sculpture in front of the center’s gallery Saturday. Art enthusiasts can view his stone carvings in Yule marble inside the gallery.A Colorado native, Kentz sculpts in stone, wood and metal in his mountainside studio with views of Mount Sopris and the Roaring Fork Valley. He and his Just for Fun team placed second in the annual Winterskl competition in Aspen.The Redstone Art Center is also sponsoring the Artful Doggers team that will compete in the sled dog races around a mountain course from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
