Second teen dies from car crash injuries

A second teen has died as a result of injuries she suffered in a car crash early Monday morning. At about 12:02 a.m. Monday, a black Chevy TrailBlazer was traveling east on Interstate 70 near Parachute when it left the road and drove through the median, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The TrailBlazer rolled three times, ejecting two passengers. Sierra Mitchell, 18, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, but died from her injuries. Molly Raim, 17, of Springville, Iowa, died at St. Mary’s Tuesday of her injuries.The driver, Tara Friedley, 18, from Marion, Iowa, was the only person in the car wearing her seat belt, and she had to be extracted from the vehicle.Alcohol is not suspected, and no charges are anticipated.
