Sen. Campbell to visit Carbondale

Local folks can meet their senator when U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, R-Colo., holds a town meeting in Carbondale on Thursday.

The meeting is part of a seven-city tour of the Western Slope by the senator during a two-week Congressional recess.

Campbell’s press secretary Camden Hubbard explained the intent of the meetings.

“People can show up to Town Hall and ask him questions,” she said. “He wants to hear from them and find out what’s on their minds.”

Campbell will also share some of his recent doings in the Senate.

“He’ll tell about how national legislation affects things locally,” she said. “He’d like to get out in the state whenever he can during recess.”

She stressed, however, that although it’s recess, the time is no vacation for Campbell.

“It’s certainly not a vacation, it’s a district work period,” she said.

There is no set agenda for the town meeting

“This is a `meet your senator, ask your senator questions’ type of meeting,” she said.

The town meeting will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at Carbondale Town Hall, 511 Colorado Ave.
