Those 50 and over are encouraged to come to the Glenwood Springs Community Center, have coffee and doughnuts, read the paper, play cards or board games, just relax and enjoy free socializing from 9-11 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday.

Computers are available for Internet use, and help will be available.

Transportation will also be available.



For the 18th consecutive year, High Country RSVP will sponsor free VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) consultations for basic federal and state tax returns.

This service is provided at no charge for low- to moderate-income clients, seniors, and disabled individuals from Aspen to Parachute/Battlement Mesa.



All locations will be happy to arrange an appointment with you. Call 384-8740 and leave your name, address, telephone number, and the location where you would like your taxes prepared. Services are offered in Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Spring Valley, Rifle and Parachute/Battlement Mesa. A volunteer will return your call and schedule an appointment to take care of your tax filing needs.

Habitat for Humanity is now accepting donations of furniture and nearly new appliances for the ReStore in Carbondale. A free pick-up service is offered throughout the valley.

Habitat is looking for volunteers to help with the new store in the Cattle Creek area, as well as ongoing store help. Call LeAnna at 945-7733 or 618-1690 to schedule a pick-up or to volunteer.

Roaring Fork Hospice of Valley View Hospital will offer Hospice volunteer training from 6-9 p.m. the week of Monday, Feb. 25, through Thursday, Feb. 28.

The class is free of charge, but all four nights must be attended.

An Exquisite Design of Rifle and the Rifle Area Relay for Life have teamed up to fight cancer. For every delivery this Valentine’s Day, An Exquisite Design will donate the delivery fee to the Rifle Area Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Rifle Area Relay for Life committee members will be delivering flowers for An Exquisite Design on Feb. 14.

An Exquisite Design is located in downtown Rifle and is a full-service floral and gift center, delivering flowers from New Castle to Parachute and providing FTD and wire service deliveries. Call 625-1918 or go to http://www.rifleflowers.com.

The Rifle Area Relay for Life will be held at Rifle High School June 20 and 21. Teams are forming now.
