Sexually violent predator moves into Garfield County temporarily

Post Independent crime news graphic

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reported a sexually violent predator (SVP) has temporarily moved into the Garfield County community.

An SVP is a person who has been convicted of sexually violent crimes and is likely to commit more. SVPs are often diagnosed with a mental illness or personality disorder that makes it more difficult for them to control their sexually violent behavior.

Austin Miller Wickline is officially registered as an SVP with the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy from the Sheriff’s Office has completed a house check to verify his residential address and to inform Wicklines that he is an SVP in Garfield County and that they would be notifying the public of his presence.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office has posted on their website, Facebook page and other social media with this information to inform the public of his location, anticipated duration of stay and purpose in Garfield County.

Wickline has a permanent residence in the state of Virginia and is temporarily living in Garfield County at 2957 County Road 103 in Carbondale for work purposes as a contractor. He will be commuting between Virginia and Colorado as needed and according to his registration form, he will be in Garfield County until Mar. 28.

This notification is intended for community information only and should not be used to harass or intimidate the subject of notification. If anyone observes Wickline or any other registered sex offender engaging in high risk or suspicious activity, call 911.

For more information on sexual predators, go to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office website at garcosheriff.com, under the “Community” tab and click on “Sex Offender Search” in the drop down menu. A bulletin under the search details more about Wickline and what he was charged with.
