Sheriff seeks info on broken gas line in Rifle

RIFLE, Colorado ” Authorities asked for information Tuesday about damage done to a natural gas line the night of Dec. 6 or early the next morning.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office received a report Dec. 7 about a gas line that had been broken west of Rifle. Deputies went to the scene and determined a piece of heavy machinery had been used to break the natural gas line, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Xcel Energy estimates the damages, including lost natural gas, totaled about $40,000.



Anyone with information leading to prosecution of suspects can remain anonymous and earn up to $1,000 by leaving a message with Garfield County Crime Stoppers at 945-0101.
