Suicide has been ruled as the cause of death involving a New Castle woman who was found Wednesday in a ditch on County Road 245 by a person driving by.The woman was reported unconscious in the ditch at 1:25 p.m., Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario said. However, before sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, the woman’s husband had arrived and transported her to the Grand River Medical Center in Rifle, where she passed away.”She was in the ditch with her shirt off and, according to the coroner, she had a lethal dose of pills in her system,” Vallario said. “She had left the house earlier the night before.”No foul play is suspected in the incident, and the case is considered closed, Vallario said.
