An unidentified robber attacked an employee of Anderson Jewelry & Pawn with pepper spray Thursday and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reported Thursday evening.The robbery occurred around 3 p.m. at 7920 Highway 82, south of Glenwood Springs.The case remains under investigation.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the reported shooting of a horse during a confrontation between two groups of hunters Monday in the Flat Tops.A sheriff’s deputy first was called to Forest Road 610 in response to a report of an injured hunter. A 61-year-old hunter was thought to have broken his hip. Garfield County Search and Rescue responded to assist and Grand Junction Care Flight transported the hunter to St. Mary’s Hospital.During their response to the injured hunter, authorities learned of the reported confrontation between the hunting parties and that a horse belonging to one of the groups had been killed. The case is under further investigation.The Sheriff’s Department didn’t release the injured hunter’s name Thursday.
