Shirley Barbara Batterman

Shirley Barbara Batterman of Glenwood Springs was called home to her heavenly father on August 25, 2008. She was 66.

Shirley was born in Viborg, South Dakota, August 14, 1942 to Henry Hanson and Julia Anderson Hanson.

She was married to Don Batterman October 21, 1961 in Volin, South Dakota. They have lived in their present home in Glenwood Springs since 1973.



Shirley was a devoted wife and mother to her three children and six grandchildren. She touched many lives with her smile and we will miss her.

Shirley was a cook for the Sunnyside retirement home and for the Re-1 School District.



Shirley was preceded in death by her mother Julia Hanson and father Henry Hanson and her sister Elaine Fickbohm.

Shirley is survived by her husband Don Batterman; daughter Kimberly Nischke of Lakemoor, Illinois; son Steven Batterman of Glenwood Springs; and daughter Lori Russ of Wamego, Kansas; brothers Harlan Hanson of Delta Junction Ark.; and Gerald Hanson of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Memorial service will be held September 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church 652 East Fifth Street Rifle, Colo. with Rev Edward H. Schmidt officiating. A light lunch and beverages will follow immediately after the service for everyone.

The family asks in lieu of flowers please make donations at Alpine Bank to the Shirley Batterman memorial fund for ovarian cancer research.
