Shots fired inside suburban Denver bank

LAKEWOOD, Colorado (AP) ” Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who fired shots inside a bank before leaving in a car on Wednesday.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Jacki Kelley said no injuries have been reported and it wasn’t immediately known if any money was stolen from the Bellco Credit Union. She said all the people in the bank have been brought out and the SWAT team is doing a final sweep inside to look for other people.

A large group of SWAT team members were seen leaving the bank just before 11 a.m.

Kelley said authorities are looking for a white male wearing a black hat with a red headband and sunglasses. She said there were conflicting reports about whether a second suspect was inside the bank.

Kelley said the man who fled left in a car belonging to a credit union employee or patron. Kelley says the car is a 2006 silver Dodge van with Colorado plates that was been found unoccupied nearby.

Authorities issued a reverse-911 alert to residents within a half-mile radius of the Bellco Credit Union.

Lakewood police are also on scene.
