Sikorski arrested for hit and run

A Garfield County man was arrested Friday after he ran over the foot of a 12-year-old girl.

William Sikorski, 21, is accused of running over the girl’s foot with a 1989 Ford Mustang at Mountain Meadows mobile home park, then leaving the scene.

The accident happened at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Sikorski told police he didn’t know he hit the girl.

But Colorado State Patrol Captain Barry Bratt said his trooper didn’t believe that story..

Sikorski was charged with careless driving causing injury and leaving the scene of an injury accident, both misdemeanors.

“He can dispute that in court,” Bratt said.

Sikorski was taken to Garfield County Jail and released later that night on a $1,500 bond.

The girl, who police didn’t identify, was transported to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.

She was treated and released for the injuries to her foot, Bratt said.
