Silt appoints two trustees to fill vacancies
SILT – With the death of town trustee Dennis Mahan and the election of trustee Dave Moore as mayor, the town of Silt has two new trustees on the town board.Jim Voorheis was appointed to fill the remaining two-year term of Dennis Mahan, who passed away on March 24, 2006. Voorheis is an employee of American National Bank.Ron Morgan, who has served as chairman of the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission and who ran for the mayor’s position, along with incumbent mayor John Evans, was appointed to fill the remaining two-year trustee position vacated by Moore.Both Voorheis and Morgan were sworn in at the last regular Silt Town Board meeting on April 24.”I think we now have the strongest, most intelligent board we’ve ever had,” Moore said afterwards. “To be a trustee, it takes intelligence, but even more, it takes dedication and hard work.”
