Silt trustees OK 91 housing units

Silt’s board of trustees gave preliminary approval to a 91-unit housing project Monday night and told another developer to return with more information.

David Hicks, a Carbondale-based developer, received annexation and PUD approval for his Spruce Meadows project on 18 acres at the west side of town.

Town planner Janet Steinbach said Spruce Meadows calls for 70 single-family, modular housing units and 21 stick-built, multi-family units.

Trustees will consider the preliminary plan, and the annexation’s second reading, March 11.

Applicant Jim Mazuchi saw his 100-unit, single-family project continued until he shows 16th Street access on his conceptual plan, Steinbach said.

Mazuchi’s First Mesa Addition Number Three is slated for land to be annexed on the mesa north of town.

Steinbach said she expects trustees to reconsider Mazuchi’s project in 30 days.
