Singers unite for `One Heart’ at Waldorf

The Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork presents “One Heart,” a Thanksgiving benefit concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Waldorf School Community Hall.

The concert features outstanding valley musicians Jan Garrett, J.D. Martin, Frank Martin, Chris Bank and Chris Goplerude singing music from the heart and for the spirit.

Jan Garrett is well known in the valley as an accomplished singer and songwriter, recording artist and teacher. She has recorded and toured with John Denver, Steve Martin and the Dirt Band and appeared on the Tonight Show. Jan’s husband and musical partner, J.D. Martin, is also a singer and songwriter. J.D. and Jan will debut several new songs at the Thanksgiving concert, including one to be performed by a group of Waldorf School student singers.

Also featured are Frank Martin, awarded in the Songwriters Showcase at the Lyons Folks Festival and who has released his first CD, “In the Slanting Light.”

Chris Bank will play his eighth season at Syzygy in Aspen with Second Wind Jazz Group and is presently directing the Roaring Fork High School Band and teaching Waldorf students as well as many school students in the valley.

Chris Goplerude is the group drummer and currently freelances with many groups in the Roaring Fork and Vail valleys.

The artists’ CDs will also be on sale at the concert.

Tickets are $20 and are on sale at Great Divide Music in Aspen, Sounds Easy video in Carbondale, Roaring Fork Music in Glenwood Springs and the Waldorf School.
