Sixth Street nighttime detour set

Staff Report

Eastbound Sixth Street in Glenwood Springs leading to Colorado 82 was scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday and 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday for utility work, officials with the Grand Avenue bridge project said.

Drivers seeking to cross the Grand Avenue Bridge from Interstate 70 Exit 116 and Sixth Street will be detoured to West Glenwood. From West Glenwood, traffic should travel Midland Avenue to Seventh Street to Colorado Avenue to Eighth Street to access downtown.

Westbound traffic will not be affected.

This closure includes a 13-feet, 9-inch height restriction for commercial vehicles. The closure is necessary for utility work as crews begin to wrap up Sixth Street work.

Also, project officials said, beginning Monday, eastbound I-70 traffic at Exit 116 are scheduled to face 15-minute, intermittent holds from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Friday to complete overhead utility work associated with the new pedestrian bridge.
