CARBONDALE ” Saturday’s fifth annual KDNK Blues and BBQ Fest offers the best of both worlds.

Combining food and music ” with cooking demonstrations and microbrew tasting in the mix ” the festival serves as a fundraiser for KDNK community radio.

The Blues and BBQ Fest takes place from 2-9 p.m.; food demos start at 3 p.m. with celebrated food writer Eugenia Bone.

Ian Kipp ” chef and co-owner of the Carbondale’s new restaurant Ella ” will also share his culinary knowledge of meats with festivalgoers at the event. The Kitchen plans a presentation on preparing fritters and other sides.

Music includes blues by local favorites Big Daddy Lee and the Kingbees, at 5 p.m. Saturday, followed by the blues-folk-Americana-Appalachian-punkabilly stylings of Hillstomp, out of Portland, Ore.
