Snowmobile accident sends woman to St. Mary’s

A woman was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction with serious injuries after striking a tree with her snowmobile yesterday afternoon, according to Colorado State Patrol dispatch.

The woman, whose identity and hometown were not available at press time, was riding alone on the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail along Forest Service Road 300. She was found by other snowmobilers, who called Sunlight Mountain Resort for help.

A Care Flight helicopter was dispatched from St. Mary’s and picked up the woman in the Sunlight parking area.

No further information was available at press time.
