Soccer Rams come up short against TCA

Roaring Fork couldn’t overcome two first-half goals by The Classical Academy, dropping out of the 3A boys soccer playoffs with a 2-0 loss to the Titans in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

TCA, seeded second in the 32-team bracket, will host Denver Christian in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Titans improved to 16-1 with the win.

Last season, TCA advanced all the way to the state title game, in which it suffered a 2-1 loss to St. Mary’s in two overtimes.

The 15th-seeded Rams wrapped their season with a 10-6 overall record. They made Saturday’s round of 16 by defeating No. 18 Bruce Randolph, 3-2, at home in the first round on Tuesday.

Roaring Fork has won a first-round matchup in each of the past three seasons.

This year was the Rams’ first under head coach Aaron Anderson.
