Soenke George Boysen

Soenke George Boysen, 84, succumbed to metastatic melanoma and leukemia on Jan. 8, 2006.

He was born May 25, 1921, on the Isle of Fohr, Germany, to Christian and Caroline Boysen.

In 1923, Soenke and his mother came from Germany to join his father in the Petaluma Liberty District in California.

He will be deeply missed, especially by his family and countless friends, for his ever-present smile and witty sense of humor.

Soenke is survived by his wife, Harriet; children Carolyn (Ned) Barron, of New Castle, Barbara (John) Reichardt and Tom (Patti) Boysen; six grandchildren including Lisa Martinez, of Glenwood Springs, and Nicole Zoellick, of Parachute; 11 great-grandchildren including Jenni, Ian and Jordan Martinez, of Silt, and Breanna Zoellick, of Parachute; one great-great-grandson; and sisters Elsie Curtis, Dorothy Danise and Inge Marie Luiz.

He was preceded in death by his former wife Peggy and grandchild Kelly Whitten.

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Soenke’s life at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Hermannsons Hall, 860 Western Ave., Petaluma, Calif.

Donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA.
