Soft path on River Trail is only temporary

Dear Editor,

At this time, the new soft path on the River Trail is still being developed and the final phase of “tamping down” the crusher fine stones is still pending.

The loose “kitty litter” stones on the sidewalk are temporary. Special equipment is necessary to put the final touches on the trail. While not yet ready for foot traffic, the future path will be soft but packed, perfect for running and walking.

Wheeled-users please bear with us until the final packing is complete and the River Trail becomes a better pathway for multiple types of users.

In the future, we hope to avoid this “retrofit” inconvenience and install soft trails at the same time that concrete recreational trails are constructed. Thanks for your patience.
