Sopris legacy continues at Buffalo Valley

For all those Sopris Restaurant fans out there, owner Kurt Wigger has opened a “Sopris room” at his Buffalo Valley Inn Restaurant on Colorado Highway 82. After the 35-year-old Sopris Restaurant closed last year farther up Highway 82, some of Wigger’s old customers begged for him to bring the restaurant back in some form. “They all cried on my shoulder,” he said. “So I opened up a Sopris room so you can come and dine with me.”The Sopris room in Buffalo Valley opened two weeks ago and features 10 specialties from the Sopris Restaurant’s former menu. Prices, Wigger said, remain the same. The room also features all the furniture, tablecloths and candles from the old restaurant, he said. The Sopris Restaurant was sold in January to Sopris Properties LLC.
