GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – The next round of discussions regarding the proposed South Bridge and what options should be included in the environmental assessment will come to a head next week.

The joint meeting will include both the Garfield County Board of County Commissioners and the Glenwood Springs City Council and is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Nov. 5. The meeting will be held at the Garfield County Administration Building located at 108 Eighth Street.

At a Sept. 16 joint meeting, commissioners and councilors agreed to include the option 5, along with two other options, as part of the Environmental Assessment, which will determine the environmental impacts of each of the recommended alternatives.

Option 5 was previously eliminated as a recommended alternative when it was determined that it did not meet the project’s purpose and need, which is primarily to provide residents of south Glenwood with an emergency and alternative access route.

The decision upset residents who live in south Glenwood and would be impacted by option 5 if it were constructed.
